If you’re planning to vote by mail in the 2026 General Election, mark this date down now: Thursday, October 22, by 5:00 PM is the deadline to request your mail ballot be sent. Miss it, and you’ll need to vote in person instead, either during early voting or on Election Day.

The Deadline at a Glance

  • Last day to request a mail ballot: Thursday, October 22, 2026, by 5:00 PM
  • Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Requests received after the deadline will not be processed for this election.

How to Request Your Mail Ballot

Brevard County voters can request a mail ballot in just a few minutes using the Supervisor of Elections’ online request service:

👉 Request a Mail Ballot Online – VoteBrevard.gov

You can also request a ballot by phone at 321-633-2127. Be ready to provide your full name, date of birth, Brevard County residential address, and either your Florida Driver License/ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Why This Deadline Matters

Florida law requires mail ballot requests to be received no later than 5 PM on the 12th day before an election. That’s what sets this October 22 cutoff. Once a ballot is mailed to you, you’ll still need to return it, by mail or by dropping it at a secure ballot intake station, before 7:00 PM on Election Day, November 3.

If you’re cutting it close to the deadline, keep in mind that mailing your ballot back takes time too. If you request your ballot close to October 22, consider returning it in person at a ballot intake station rather than relying on the mail to get it back before the deadline.

Already Requested a Ballot?

If you submitted a mail ballot request for this election cycle, you can track its status anytime at VoteBrevard.gov, including the day your request was received, the day your ballot was mailed, and the day your completed ballot was received back by the Supervisor of Elections.

Prefer to Vote In Person?

If the mail ballot deadline has passed or voting by mail isn’t for you, you still have options:

  • Early voting runs in the lead-up to Election Day. Check VoteBrevard.gov for exact dates, times, and locations.
  • Election Day voting takes place Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at your assigned polling location.

Don’t Wait

Every voter matters in local races like the Cocoa Beach City Commission election. Whether you vote by mail, early, or on Election Day, the most important step is making a plan and following through. Request your mail ballot today if that’s your preferred way to vote, and don’t let October 22 sneak up on you.
