How to Return and Track Your Mail Ballot in Brevard County: 2026 General Election Guide

Voting by mail is convenient, but the job isn’t finished when you fill in the bubbles. Your ballot has to be returned correctly and received on time to count. The good news is that Brevard County gives you several ways to return it, and an online tool to confirm it arrived.

Here’s everything Cocoa Beach and Brevard County voters need to know about dropping off and tracking your mail ballot for the 2026 General Election.

The Deadline That Matters Most

Your voted mail ballot must be received by the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections by 7:00 PM on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The key word is received. A ballot that is still in the mail at 7:00 PM won’t be counted, so don’t wait until the last minute to send it back.

Step 1: Fill Out Your Ballot and Envelope Correctly

Small mistakes on the return envelope are one of the most common reasons ballots run into trouble. Follow the steps from the Supervisor of Elections:

  1. Place your voted ballot inside the secrecy sleeve.
  2. Insert the ballot into the return envelope.
  3. Seal the flap.
  4. Fill out the voter’s certificate. Read the oath and print your name on the line.
  5. In the red box, sign and date. Adding current contact information helps if the office needs to reach you about your ballot.
  6. Fold the secrecy flap along the line under “FOLD HERE,” following the arrows.

Your signature matters. The signature on your return envelope must match the signature on your voter registration record, or the ballot may not be counted. Sign the way you normally do.

Step 2: Choose How to Return Your Ballot

Brevard County voters have three ways to return a voted mail ballot:

Option 1: Return It by Mail

Use the postage-paid return envelope and send it through the United States Postal Service. Mail it early, because it has to arrive by 7:00 PM on Election Day.

Option 2: Drop It Off at an Early Voting Site

Secure Ballot Intake Stations are available at every Brevard early voting location during early voting hours. Early voting runs October 19 through October 31, 2026:

  • Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Option 3: Drop It Off at a Supervisor of Elections Office

Secure Ballot Intake Stations are also located in the lobby of all four administrative offices, available during office hours:

  • Titusville: 400 South Street, Suite 1-F, Titusville, FL 32780
  • Viera: 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Bldg C, Suite 105, Viera, FL 32940
  • Melbourne: 1515 Sarno Road, Building A, Melbourne, FL 32935
  • Palm Bay: 450 Cogan Drive SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909

For Cocoa Beach residents, the Viera office is generally the closest. You can view all locations on the Secure Ballot Intake Stations page.

What About Election Day?

On Election Day, the Supervisor of Elections must receive your ballot by 7:00 PM, so plan to deliver it to one of the offices above rather than counting on your neighborhood polling place. If you’d rather vote in person, contact the Supervisor of Elections before Election Day to find out the right way to do that with a mail ballot in hand.

Can Someone Else Return My Ballot?

If you can’t return your ballot yourself, someone else may be able to do it for you, but Florida law limits how many ballots a person other than the voter may return. Check with the Supervisor of Elections before handing your ballot to someone else.

Step 3: Track Your Mail Ballot Online

Once your ballot is on its way, you don’t have to wonder whether it made it. Brevard County lets you track your mail ballot through the entire process at VoteBrevard.gov. You can see:

  • The day your mail ballot request was received
  • The day your ballot was mailed to you
  • The day your voted ballot was received back at the Supervisor of Elections office

Check your status a few days after you return your ballot. If it shows as received, you’re all set.

What If There’s a Problem With My Signature?

Every mail ballot’s signature is verified in every election. If there’s a question about yours, the Supervisor of Elections will contact you so you can fix it. This is why providing current contact information on your envelope is a good idea.

If you’re contacted, act quickly. The Mail Ballot Signature Cure Affidavit instructions and form are available on VoteBrevard.gov.
